some tools i build and use to be more intentional, curate my internet, and remove noise.
fun solutions
kan: a small assistant that runs on your own computer and answers from your own notes. EU-made models, about 2.2 GB, no internet once installed. MIT.
niwa: my rationalist thinking tool. i’m a chronic recursive overthinker; i built this to help me structure, reduce, and move toward directional clarity. no AI: clear frameworks, and creative visualisation to activate affect. surfaces cognitive biases by default, so i can separate message from messenger: substance from semantics.
no eating what you don’t cook: the “normal diet” is steeped in corporate self-interest, ultra-processed food and invisible incentives. i only eat what i cook: fruit and vegetables, as local as possible, raw or al dente. two weeks off ultra-processed food and added sugar in march 2026 rewired my cravings; now i crave the freshness of a zucchini, the unadulterated scent of fresh parsley. just my lived experience. i’ve extended the same ethos to my attention diet: a one-click browser extension, built on Pangram, that blocks machine-generated text and images as i browse, so i pay attention only to what matters. the ethos: if the creator used AI, they cared less than someone who gave it their own time, cognition, expression and perception. on by default.
cognitive scaffolding: tools for structured overthinking, so the thinking ends in something done. runs in your browser; the ledger stays there.
kiku: my regulated information conduit. i consume exactly what i’ve chosen, as text, audio or video, converted freely between them, then cohered with what i already know, so every unit of attention is additive, multiplicative or clarifying, never compulsive time-filling. a small protest against the forced commodification of attention.
brian eno’s oblique strategies: which i find very helpful for an intentional reframe when i’m creatively stuck. 30-second DIY version: your own cards, from your creative values.
koe, my custom podcast tool: predictively connects the day’s conceptual inputs by analogy and metaphor, so they cohere and stay, memory-palace style, and sets the tone and background for my daily jog. fully local, two voices.
keep: commitment markets where your body is the oracle. stake money on a recovery target; your wearable settles it, a miss goes to charity.
life-os: eight scheduled agents running my day off my recovery score. red reschedules deep work, green blocks focus time.
doordrop: a small screen by the front door that shows the delivery code on its own, so the phone stays in the other room. an ESP32 and an SMS pipeline.
subcortex: how would these specific smart people evaluate this conundrum? a best approximation.
arxiv digest: places my latest insight or concept against the most relevant current research across fields, to clarify it and find mechanistic, relational links between normatively disparate fields.
decision red team / decision blue team: a decision attacked, then defended, before it’s made.
pickless & pickless mcp: an early pass at no-decision food. predictability over variety, attention conserved, nothing disrupted.
sadboi: a generative digital coffee-table book on emo rap, depression, addiction and community: yung lean, lil peep, lil tracy, juice wrld, bladee. the structural spine is not AI-curated.
bayesian trainer: a tool to build the martial art of instrumental rationality.
stop flowing, aka evian don’t flow: think for yourself. see social mediation and groupthink for what they are, drop the bias to conform, and seek accuracy instead.
half second: become unsuggestible and unpersuadable by hyperpersuasive, self-interested internet influencers and misinformation.
my no big-tech privacy first tech stack: what runs instead of google, meta, spotify and youtube, as one picture.
more technical stuff
mcp-red-team: a security scanner for MCP servers. ten checks, canary-confirmed; its own false negatives found by auditing the scanner.
mcp-fleet: four MCP servers i use daily, 47 tools, and the three patterns they converged on without a house style.
cmchp: a wire format for handing agent state between models, plus the retraction of its own benchmark, which scored 100% by construction.
bonp & biometric inference proxy: whoop, todoist and notion on one protocol, so my recovery score dictates the shape of my day.
biometric-json-eval: can a model read wearable data well enough to move real money? the KPI is dangerous-error rate, not accuracy.
yt-tldr-eval: four models summarise 40 videos, one grades them. under paired tests the leaderboard mostly evaporates.
claude-code-hooks-mcp: lets claude code read its own hooks. the model inspecting the rules it runs under.
voice preservation eval: auto-updates local voice models’ accent, tone and tenor from my own podcast listening rate.
